What a great week in school to end the half-term on a high.

The half-term has flown by and the start of term feels like a lifetime ago. The children have settled into their classes so well and adjusted to the expectations of their next stage.

Well done to everyone and have an amazing half-term break!

Today we were joined by Mayor Paul Trendall who judged our Scarecrow competition! It was such a tough decision as all the entries were amazing! Thanks to everyone who made the effort. Our overall winners are Ayat and Dawud – representing YELLOW house! Their Scarecrow dinosaur was amazing!

Well done to you both.

They even got to try on the Mayor's golden chains!

T

There were also 5 runner-up prizes. Congratulations to..

Harmony, Emily, Evelin, Alfie and Marley!

Thanks to all the children, the PTA and the staff for their efforts with the crazy hat and cake fundraiser on Monday!

In total we raised just over £371 for Freya, and the Brain tumour charity!

Well done and thank you everyone.

Tintern and Turvey explored the local area on a walk to the post box. They noticed signs of Autumn and practised crossing the road. They learnt what happens to their letters by posting drawings home about what they have loved at school so far.

Frenchie even joined some of the groups too!

This term in PSHE year 1 and 2 have been learning about themselves, their similarities  and how to treat others with respect. They have learnt how to work cooperatively with other members of the class while playing board games. Here are some photos of the fun that they had!

In Science, Missenden class has been learning about the nutrients their bodies need to stay healthy. They enjoyed sorting food items and packaging in order of how healthy they thought they were, discussing their choices and learning more about what each nutrient does.

Marham class have been enjoying Forest school this week! They enjoyed exploring all the different areas and got pretty muddy!

Some lucky children got the opportunity to go to RAF Shuttleworth this week to see the Aerodrome and Aviation museum. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learnt so much! Thanks to Miss Sadia and Mr Ayres for arranging a wonderful visit.

Mrs Pullen's colouring club have been really busy this half-term. Well done children! Great work.

Mrs Dunnett's forest school is looking wonderful. She has been busy ensuring the different areas are ready for the children to learn through play and experiment with nature.

Ms Burton's art club have been busy making masks this half term. They have also been experimenting  with colour, painting and sketching!

Today. Aniyah made some spooky Halloween cupcakes all by herself.  She did the measurements, the mixing and put them into the cake tins independently. Then she decorated them all by herself getting into the spooky October spirit. I think she’s done a great job. She was really proud of herself and I wanted her to have a shout-out for being so independent and doing such a great job.

These look delicious! Well done Aniyah!

"A big shout-out to Nasya-Mira and Judenn for their continued progress in spoken English!

I'm really pleased with how much both children have improved. It's particularly impressive to see Judenn's growing confidence and independence in communicating in English. Just 3–4 months ago, he often relied on his big sister to translate  some words and sentences for him, but he can now express himself much more confidently without her help.

Well done to you both! Keep up the fantastic progress!

🌟👏"

I would love to give a special SHOUT-OUT to my wonderful daughter, Lola!

Lola is a bright, loving, caring and amazing little girl who makes me proud every day.

We have been talking about the importance of kindness, respect, listening carefully and making good choices. Lola has made a special promise to Daddy that she will always try her best to make good decisions, follow instructions, treat her teachers and friends with kindness, and learn from the good examples around her.

She has also promised to be a positive example to others and to remember that even when things don’t go her way, she can choose to respond calmly and kindly.

Lola, Daddy believes in you, is incredibly proud of you, and knows you can achieve wonderful things. Keep shining, keep learning and always remember to make good choices!

Lots of love,
Daddy

A Big Shout-Out!

🏊‍♂️🌟

A huge congratulations to our son, Eric for moving up from Stage 1 to Stage 2 in swimming! We are so proud of his hard work and progress. Keep up the amazing work and keep swimming towards your goals!

❤️

Well done to all the children and the staff who enjoyed Pumpkin Carving this week!

It is not easy to calve that many pumpkins and help so many children at once!

As usual the children enjoyed the DISCO and the costumes did not disappoint! Thanks to all those that came along and to DJ Dylan and the PTA for all their help.

Miss Proctor mugged Miss Tyas saying ' she has quickly become a valued member of the Abbeys' family. She is so calm and caring with the children and is great at communicating with everyone throughout the school, so children's worries are dealt with quickly' Thank you for everything you do Miss Tyas!

Miss Tyas went on to mug Mrs Dunnett this week for being so welcoming and making her feel like a part of the Abbeys team from the second she joined the school!

Thank you Mrs Dunnett!

We have noticed that some children are coming into school with far too many layers on and overheating and some children are coming in without enough layers on and they are cold. We have put together a rough guide for you!
