Dear Abbeys Families 30th March 2020
Re: Coronavirus update – school closure
Please note that Abbeys is now CLOSED until further notice.
The decision by the government to close schools, along with public venues and non-essential shops, is an extreme but necessary measure to minimise the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
During this time, the government has made it clear that every child who can be cared for at home must be.
THIS ADVICE ALSO APPLIES TO CHILDREN OF KEY WORKERS.
We will aim to provide alternative provision for the children of defined key workers who have absolutely no other childcare option, and children with certain needs. Please note that taking up a place of alternative provision during this time must be a last resort for key workers. Any requests made using the attached form will be regularly reviewed and scrutinised, in line with the ever-changing national picture.
While this is a challenging situation, it is one that schools and families are facing in the UK and other countries. We are not alone, but must follow the government instructions so that as many people as possible stay safe at home.
We’ll re-open fully as soon as we can and will let you know when this is by posting information on our website and sending a text message to everyone we hold up to date telephone details for.
Your child’s learning pack contains individual logins to access remote learning links from the Our Learning section of the school website. You just need to scroll down within Our Learning to reach the Learning Resources link. Some links have also been added which don’t require individual logins. If you don’t yet have your child’s pack please use the email address to request it.
If you need to contact the school during the period of closure, please use our email email@example.com and we will do our best to respond as soon as possible. If your child usually receives free school meals, packed lunch supplies can be collected for them by parents.
This is an ever-changing situation and we understand the impact on you and your family is far from ideal, but we’ll continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops.
Remember: if you or your child feels ill and you want to know what to do next, please consult NHS 111 online.
This newsletter will be updated with more information as we have it.
Best wishes on behalf of myself and my team,
Mrs Sophie Good
